Houston Wheatley HS 83 vs Second Baptist HS 60
In the most anticipated matchup of the night, many fans came out to support the preseason action. LJ Rose (2012) was sidelined due to recent surgery on his foot, but supported his teammates on bench. Wheatley wasted no time winning the tap and off their first made basket jumped into their famous full court trap. Wheatley forced Second Baptist into turnovers 5 out of the first 8 possessions resulting in 8-0 lead. Wheatley continued their press and Second Baptist never recovered during the ball game, the fast pace of the Wheatley Wildcats proved to be too much for the bigger Second Baptist. Second Baptist Julien Pearson 6'6 (2011) dazzles the crowed making several nice plays and finishing around the rim with style. Kadeem Latin 6'8 (2012) showed off his athleticsm with a pair of thunderous dunks in transition.

8:00pm
Houston Memorial HS 64 vs Houston Wheatley HS 66 OT
Wheatley HS played back to back due to school conferences for the 8th team in the league St. Pius X. In the best game of the day, Memorial slowed the pace of play down against Wheatley and made the game more of a half court game to take advantage of size difference and fatigue of Wheatley. Wheatley continued trapping on defense and took advanatge of a few late turnovers and a personal 9-0 run of Kedron Ginn to pull even inside of 1 minute in the 2nd half. After miss attempts by both clubs in the last few seconds, the game was forced into overtime. The rule for ot in the fall league is the first team score wins. Wheatley wins the tap, but turnsthe ball over with their posession. Memorial had a chance to win the game but a costly turnover allowed Randy Lewis (2011) from Wheatley a layup to win it in ot. Memorial's trio of Kyle Dobbin 5'8 (2012), Russell Clark 6'2(2011), Walker Pennington 6'3 (2013) all had double digits in the game and were impressive.
MHS- Kyle Dobbin 13, Walker Pennington 13, Russell Clark 12
WHS- Kedron Ginn 18, Jarrion Brooks 12, LaJuan Jones 10, DeMarcus Comier 10
